As a young man, Neal Vrooman had a blacksmith shop. He also made rowboats which were much in demand in that era besides doing many other repair jobs. In spring he was in much demand for shearing sheep.
He and his mother lived at 593 Kalamazoo Ave, which was purchased and remodeled by Roger Roodvoets and eventually purchased and torn dow and a new house built by Bryan and Cindy Roodvoets in 2006.

Mr. Bernard Kramer, aged 75, of Byron Center, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 24, 1999 and went to be with his Lord.
He served his country with the Navy during World War II.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Siert and Alice Kramer and brother, Wilmer Kramer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Clarabell; his children, Larry and Elsa Kramer, Pat and Mike Leatherman, Cindy and Bryan Roodvoets all of Caledonia; ten grandchildren;
his brother and sisters, Rich and Gen Kramer of McBain, Ella and Al VanderSloot of Hudsonville, Sherlene and Jerry Schripsema of Bitley; father-in-law, William and Louise Westra of FL; brother and sisters-in-law, Kathleen and Earl Crystal of Cascade, Maxine
and Jay Schaaf of Wyoming, Eugene and Pat Westra of Caledonia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Friday 11 AM from Heritage Christian Reformed Church, with pastor Dale Slings officiating.
Interment Pine Hill Cemetery with military honors performed by Kent County Honor Guard.
Visiting hours Wednesday 7 to 9 PM and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM from the Byron Center Chapel of the Cook Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at First Christian Reformed Church of Byron Center with Pastors Thomas K. Groelsema and Ron Noorman officiating.
The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Byron Center 2067 84th and one hour prior to services Monday at church.
