OBITUARY:
Patricia Maria Glöckler, was born September 20, 1952.
She is survived by her sister Barbara Glockler Turk; brother-in-law Roger Turk; her niece Coral Turk Davis; her mother Lily Glockler MacLin; the father of her two children Dr. John Ingram "Hans" Gilderbloom; and a host of extended family, friends, teachers and classmates.
In Holland she is survived by het Aunt Loes Glockler and her niece Belinda Glockler.
Preceding, Patty in death were two children: Max Edward Gilderbloom (May 9, 2011) and Rose Marie Gilderbloom (died at birth); her father Edward Glockler; and father-in-law Murray Edward Gilderbloom.
She was born 59 years ago in the Dutch Colony of Paramaribo, Suriname, South America. At the age of six she migrated to Santa Barbara speaking only Dutch. Patty grew up in Santa Barbara and graduated from Santa Barbara High School.
She was always proud of her Dutch, Indonesian and Chinese roots. She was eye-popping beautiful her whole life. In het twenties, Patty was a model, worked in health foods, and was part of the New York art scene. No matter what she did she always had a twinkle in het eyes and infectious smile.
In Soho she married a respected artist and renovated a loft.
In het thirties, she went to the University of Wisconsin and University of St. Thomas where she graduated with a degree in English at the top of her class. She later attended the University of Houston where she worked on an education certificate and later finished with a Master's degree in Education at the University of Louisville.
She was loved by peers, students and fellow teachers who marveled at her enthusiasm, humor, smarts, and passion.
She began her teaching career as an elementary school teacher in Texas and later taught in Louisville at the Friends School; where she was soon promoted to Principal. She later transferred to "where students needed the most help", electing to teach at the poorest performing schools in Portland and West Louisville. She was known as a gifted teacher and her students regularly outperformed expectations. She was proud that many of her students (including her son) ended up going to the top Universities in the world. She was also an editor of several well known published writers and a cheerleader.
Patty loved and cared for her "rescue dogs", Reece, Lucy Roscoe, Snoopy and Dexter. She became a devoted student of Buddhism, practicing yoga and meditation. She was also proud and invigorated by her involvement in a Christian ministry program that visited and counseled prisoners on Friday nights. Towards the end of her life, she reached out to parents who lost their children to suicide and grieved with them. Patty was also involved in gardening, social justice, care of the elderly, renovating historic homes, and educational reform. She was an avid reader of books and generously donated books to anyone who wanted a good book. She was a lifelong tennis player recruited by the University of Wisconsin tennis team; she once won an open mixed doubles championship in Texas. She was a big fan of baseball and basketball, but disliked football.
Patty Gilderbloom loved life and living to the fullest, yet tragedy struck on May 9, 2011 when her son, Max Gilderbloom was found dead. In her own words: "That is when my life ended." Patty never recovered from the loss of her son. Only a Mother could truly grasp the unending grief, sorrow and pain of losing a twenty-one year old with such a bright future. She was beyond angry at the dark evil forces that took her son away from her. Today, the peddlers of evil are still out there; the growing carnage of shorten lives continues.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Patty's favorite causes: the Louisville Zoo, a place where she spent much time; planting trees in het son's honor; or adopting a rescue dog. A memorial service that honors Patty's life will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church, 1101 Cherokee Road at Grinstead 40204.

OBITUARY.
Max Edward Gilderbloom, a student at the University of Louisville and beloved son and grandson, 21, passed away.
An honors graduate of Atherton High School in 2007 with a 4.0 GPA, Max earned an International Baccalaureate Diploma, was Homecoming King his junior year, voted Most Likely to Succeed, and before transferring to UofL, attended Indiana University on scholarship in the honors program.
He became a devoted student of Eastern mysticism, practicing yoga and meditation. Max enjoyed biking, water skiing, snowboarding, surfing, martial arts, playing piano and walking his dogs, Snoopy and Dexter. He spent his spare time volunteering at Wayside Christian Mission, the Belknap Festival and counseling men on prevention of violence against women.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia Marie Glockler Gilderbloom, father Dr. John Ingram "Hans" Gilderbloom, grandmother Lilly Glockler Maclan;
aunts, Leslie Sue Gilderbloom Murray, Mary Ann Gilderbloom, Tiah Edith Gilderbloom Larsen, Barbara Glockler Turk and Loes Glockler;
uncles, Ron Larsen, Jim Ross, Chuck Murray, and Roger Turk; and a host of extended family, friends and classmates.
A celebration of Max's life will be held Wednesday May 11, 2011 at 10 a.m. at O'Shea's 956 Baxter Avenue.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Max's favorite group, the Louisville Zoo, a place he spent much time at and enjoyed.

TWEE BRANDWEERMANNEN IN HUWELIJKSBOOTJE.

Het was een drukke week voor de mannen en vrouwen van de brandweer Nieuwkoop. De hele week stond in het teken van het organiseren van de finale van de regionale kringwedstrijden waar het korps verantwoordelijk voor was.
Daarnaast stapten twee van hen ook nog in het huwelijksbootje, of eigenlijk meer huwelijksbrandweerauto.
Maandag 22 oktober werd het huwelijk van Stephan van Buren en zijn bruid Esmeralda voltrokken en vrijdag 26 oktober was Harry van Wijngaarden met zijn Erika aan de beurt.
Beide stellen werden na de voltrekking door hun collega's opgewacht in een haag van water. 'Een traditie bij de brandweer', zegt Hans van Steijn, Postcommandant van Nieuwkoop. 'Uiteraard krijgen ze wel een paraplu mee, want het is naast nat, ook best koud'.

OBITUARY.
Beth L. Hoekstra (nee Roodvoets), age 67 of Greenville, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born February 26, 1943 in Ann Arbor, the daughter of Edward and Lorraine (Glaza) Roodvoets. She was a Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School graduate and was retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Beth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Richard Yeager of Greenville; her beloved granddaughter, Savannah Yeager;
her siblings, Jan Roodvoets of Grand Rapids, Fred and Carol Roodvoets of Belmont, and Jim and Barb Roodvoets of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 12:00 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with visitation from 10:00 to 12:00 prior to the service.
Those wishing to give a memorial contribution are asked to consider the needs of the family.

FAMILY REUNION.
The annual Scamehorn Family Reunion is a gathering of relatives on my maternal grandmother's side of the family. My great-aunt Marylou Weaver and her family drive from northern California and the rest of the family drives from all over Washington State to meet at the beach at either Point Defiance's Owen Beach Park in Tacoma Washington, or at a house Marylou owns in Arletta, Washington.
This year we went to the Arletta Beach house and spent the day playing along the rocky shores on the Puget Sound.
I helped to plan meals and entertainment, which included mini-soccer games on the lawn and several kayaks so everyone could play in the water.
We had tons of finger food and yummy sandwiches and snacks all day, and the teens all brought friends along to hang out. I brought my boyfriend, Dylan, and we took one of the kayaks out on the water, almost to Fox Island, across the little bay from Arletta.
Having a lot of relatives and friends my age there to talk with and enjoy the party made it one of the best days of the summer. And knowing that my opinions about what we should do and what foods we should eat was important; made me feel like I was respected by the other relatives. And most of all, it was fun to watch everyone have such a great time - even all of us "hard-to-please teens !"

Miranda Hammer, 16, lives in Tacoma, Washington, where she is a member of her high school student senate and a leader on school and community projects related to anti-bullying issues.
She enjoys writing, traveling, friends and family. She fills the rest of her time working as a caretaker to her elderly great-grandmother as well as taking classes at a local college as part of their early entrance program.
She hopes to apply those credits toward a university where she will study pre-med.

Mr. Bernard Kramer, aged 75, of Byron Center, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 24, 1999 and went to be with his Lord.
He served his country with the Navy during World War II.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Siert and Alice Kramer and brother, Wilmer Kramer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Clarabell; his children, Larry and Elsa Kramer, Pat and Mike Leatherman, Cindy and Bryan Roodvoets all of Caledonia; ten grandchildren;

Jim was born on July 26, 1938 at At home in Dighton, MI. His parents were William and Mabel Worst.
Jim was blessed with two children, Jim and Beth. They were also blessed with four grandchildren, Diana, Hannah, Dylan and Olivia.
His primary occupation was plant foreman. He was employed for 35 years at Formax.
Jim passed away on August 14, 2010 at at home. He fought a brave battle against cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty; children Jim (Lynne) Worst and Beth (Bret) Hoeksema; Grandchildren Diana, Olivia, Hannah and Dylan, brother Bill, sisters Jean and Donna; brothers-in-law Bob (Aggie) and Mike and mother-in-law Ruth.
Also several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Reyers North Valley Chapel.

Ray Oliver Patrick, 79, of Midland passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 2, 2006, at the MidMichigan Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Ray was born on May 12, 1927, in North Branch, the son of the late Ray L. and Hazel C. (Maybee) Patrick.
Pa, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, leaves behind his sons David Patrick of Westland and Patrick M. Pa also leaves his grandchildren, Tammie and Chris Tata, Cherie and Chris Wilson, Mary Mann, Shawn Patrick, Tom and Deb Cook, Tim Cook, Becky and Chad Neff, Amy and Joel Feekes, Dan Roodvoets, Chip and Jessica Roodvoets, Micky Tillery, Matt Stevens and fiancee Shelly.
His great-grandchildren Nathan, Andrew, Kylee, Brendan, Brenton, Brianna, Hailey, Sophia, Hailey, and Zach were little wonders in Pa's eyes and they will miss him very much.
Ray attended Hillman High School and later worked for and retired from the Laborers Local #1098 in Midland. He was an avid hunter and longtime member of the Church of Daniels Band.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will take place 10 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2006, from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St. with the Rev. Douglas Tester officiating. Burial will be in Hillman Cemetery.
Ray's family will receive friends at he funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

OBITUARY.
Hoyt Becker, age 81, of Howard City, passed away December 25 at Metron of Cedar Springs.
He was born June 4, 1930 in Cedar Springs the son of Judson and Bernice (Prince) Becker.
During his working years he worked in the Several factories in Die Cast. Maintenance as well as a mechanical contractor. He also did some farming and loved to hunt, fish and look for mushrooms.
He served his country in the US Army and was a member of the Howard City VFW Post and Morley American Legion.
In 1951 he married Eleanor Prince who survives; also surviving are two sons, Brad (Susan), Jeff (Terri), both of Howard City; two daughters, Sharon (Robert) DeLeon of Morley, Judy (Rick) Roodvoets of Wyoming;
Seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren;
a sister-in-law, Holly Becker of CA and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Judson Wayne.
Memorial Services will take place on Friday at 1 p.m.at the Howard City VFW post with Pastor Bill Vis officiating.

OBITUARY.
Eleanor Becker, age 82 of Morley, formerly of Howard City, passed away August 29 [2014] at Altercare Nursing Center in Big Rapids.
She was born Nov. 7 1931 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Stratsma) Prince.
During her working years she worked at various factories for approx. 50 years.
She loved to read, fish, deer hunt and ride motorcycles.
Surviving are her children Sharon (Robert) DeLeon of Morley, Brad (Sue) Becker of Howard City, Judy (Rick) Roodvoets of Greenville, Jeff (Terri) Becker of Howard City;
7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
A sister, Doris Schaner; a brother, John Prince, both of Grand Rapids; a sister-in-law Ollie Becker of CA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband Hoyt in 2011 and a sister, Faye; a sister-in-law, Shirley Prince and a brother-in-law Don Schaner.
Memorial Services will take place on Saturday Sept. 6 at 2 PM at the Howard City VFW Hall.
Visitation from 1 PM until time of services at 2 PM.
